Prescribed Burn at the North Shore Trail Nature Area
This spring, the Comfort Lake–Forest Lake Watershed District (CLFLWD) plans to conduct a prescribed burn at the North Shore Trail Nature Area to help control invasive species and promote healthy habitat.
This burn will be conducted by the contractor Edge Ecosystems, using trained and qualified personnel. The burn plan has been reviewed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and the contractor will follow strict requirements regarding wind direction and speed, temperature, and humidity. The burn will also be carried out in a manner designed to minimize impacts to traffic on North Shore Trail and to nearby properties.
This effort is part of ongoing habitat restoration work conducted in partnership with Great River Greening to improve the ecological quality of the area. Funding for this work has been provided by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources through the State’s Natural Resources Trust Fund.
