Forest Lake Wetland Treatment Basin
Project Description & Outcomes
This project restored a degraded wetland adjacent to Forest Lake’s east basin (“3rd Lake”) and is also referred to as the 3rd Lake Pond Project. This project was identified through the Forest Lake Diagnostic Study.
The District removed accumulated sediment from the wetland to create more water storage capacity, resulting in phosphorus removal and improved water quality for Forest Lake. The project also involved creation of a natural wetland buffer.
The District partnered with the City of Forest Lake to implement this project, as the City owns the property on which the wetland is located.
