Hilo Lane Stormwater Retrofit Project

The Comfort Lake - Forest Lake Watershed District, partnering with the City of Forest Lake, implemented a stormwater retrofit and shoreline stabilization project in the Hilo Lane development. The project incorporates stormwater treatment for a 14 acre tributary drainage area composed of residental land uses. Stormwater treatment will include bio-filtration, iron-enhanced sand filtration, channel stabilization and shoreline stabilization. The estimated nutrient reduction from the project is almost 12 lb/yr of total phosphorous. Reductions in nutrient loading to Forest Lake are expected to reduce seasonal exceedances of state water quality standards and to move the lake toward long-term improvement of water quality.
